    ‘Use that to our advantage’: Norwich player gives honest verdict on Leeds ahead of play-off clash

    Before the two teams square off in the Championship play-off semi-finals, with the first leg scheduled for Sunday, Norwich City defender Jack Stacey has shared his thoughts on Leeds United.

    The Whites will now have to contend with the play-offs as Leeds was unable to hold onto second position and stop Ipswich Town from taking automatic promotion from Daniel Farke’s squad.

     

    The loss against Birmingham City on the last weekend of the season saw Norwich drop to sixth position. On Sunday, Leeds takes on Norwich away from Elland Road, while Southampton plays West Brom.

    Leeds will be more assured after defeating Norwich both at home and away. At Carrow Road, Patrick Bamford scored the game’s lone goal, while at Elland Road, Crysencio Summerville scored the game’s winner in a 3-2 victory.

    Norwich defender Stacey evaluated Leeds and discussed his hopes after learning about their play-off opponents. The Canaries can take advantage of this as they enter the two-leg match.

    Leeds may be a little relieved to be playing a team that they have more experience with than West Brom. Prior to previous weekend, the Baggies were ranked sixth, but they passed Norwich to take the fifth spot.

    Luke Ayling was the only Leeds player to score against West Brom, as the Whites managed just one point out of a potential six. Naturally, Ayling was later loaned to Middlesbrough.

    Upon evaluating Farke’s team ahead of the two games, he expressed his hope that his team can defeat Leeds by utilising the home crowd:

    The lesson for today is the value of a cosy and comfortable home environment. Our goal is to establish that for Leeds and make the most of it. We are confident in their ability to work well as a team and as individuals.

    “Both of our games against them have been close contests. We want to bring those positive elements into the game and eliminate the negative components that worked against us. Overall, those have been strong games and performances.

    Leeds injury status ahead of Sunday clash against Norwich

    If Connor Roberts has no reaction to his return as a substitute against Russell Martin’s team on Saturday, he will be able to participate in the play-offs this coming weekend. Roberts came off the bench against Southampton.

    The last two games against Southampton and QPR have been missed by Bamford due to a knee knock, which has hurt Leeds.Bamford should return for Sunday’s play-off semi-final, according to Simon Grayson.

    With Dan James and Pascal Struijk out for some time with injuries, there are more serious concerns. Summerville had an ankle injury against Southampton, but hopefully it is only a knock.

    Richard Keys has predicted who would go to the championship game at Wembley on May 26. Leeds United is in the play-offs after failing to cling onto second position in the Championship table.

    Daniel Farke saw Leeds fall short of Southampton 2-1 at Elland Road on Saturday, as the Saints defeated the Yorkshire club, leaving Leeds with little chance of finishing in the top two.

    Ipswich took the lead, ending Leeds’ hopes of a spectacular comeback on the last day, even with the score tied at zero. Leeds needed Huddersfield to defeat Ipswich at Portman Road in an unexpected fashion.

    But Kieran McKenna’s team was assured of a spot back when Ipswich easily defeated them 2-0.
