Declan Rice contacts West Ham players ahead of title decider against Man City

Arsenal star Declan Rice ‘in touch’ with West Ham players ahead of title decider against Manchester City

In an attempt to get a significant favour from his previous squad for the Premier League championship game, Declan Rice has been “in touch” with a few of his former West Ham teammates.

Arsenal needs the Hammers to defeat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in order to have any chance of winning the Premier League after 20 years of drought.

Man City, who currently lead the league by two points, is aware that defeating David Moyes’ team will guarantee a record-tying fourth consecutive triumph.

However, the championship will be returning to north London for the first time since 2004 if Man City make a mistake and Arsenal wins their last match against Everton.

Prior to their travel to Manchester, Rice has been “in touch” with his former West Ham teammates in an attempt to top off an incredibly successful first season at the Emirates Stadium by winning the Premier League trophy.

Although Declan Rice didn’t text me, I believe he was in contact with the English boys! Vladimir Coufal, defender for West Ham, said, “He cares about Arsenal and about their performance because he is an Arsenal player.”

“They have their own fight and we have ours,” I said, not having communicated with anyone at Arsenal.

As West Ham looks to ruin Man City’s title celebration and send Moyes off in style, Coufal also disclosed that he has received a tonne of inspirational messages from Arsenal supporters.

“I have been offered free coffee for the rest of my life,” the Czech Republic international exclaimed. There’s a lot of Arsenal supporters nearby. I have huge Arsenal supporters there because my son plays football.

They texted me, saying things like, “Your first Premier League goal is coming!” and similar things. We’ll see, but it would be incredibly pleasant.

‘I’m really excited, to be honest. I can’t wait to see the Premier League trophy for the first time so I’m really excited, and hopefully it’s going to be a very good game.

‘It’s nothing better than to have an option to decide the Premier League title. We are not considering the title, but we can decide it, so that’s good.

‘It would be a great story that West Ham can cancel the Manchester City hegemony. They can be the first team to win it four times in a row, so it would be nice to stop it.’

History is certainly not on Arsenal’s side as no team has failed to win the Premier League having sat top on the final day.

Pochettino ‘happy’ with recent Chelsea performances ahead of final PL match

Arsenal may not prevail against Manchester City because of the Sky Blues’ winning streak of 16 league games against the Hammers, who have dropped 15 of their previous 17 meetings at the Etihad.

Regarding the challenge that West Ham faces, Coufal continued, “It’s probably one of the hardest places to play football.”

“I am aware that we have a poor—I would say extremely poor—record there! But at some point, this streak must come to an end, so why not on Sunday?

    ’

Rice left West Ham to join Arsenal last summer

Prior to the Premier League final, Moyes, however, maintains that he has no intention of doing a favour for his former star.

The Scot gave a firm “no” when asked if he was considering lending Rice a helping hand against Man City.

“Declan is loved and remembered by everyone here, but we’re not doing this for him.” Do the best we can; we’re doing it for ourselves.
