    Leeds United, Everton and Wolves potentially dealt transfer blow as West Ham table offer

    Apparently, West Ham United has extended a contract offer to defender Ben Johnson, who is linked to Leeds United.

    The Hammers academy alumnus is set to expire at the end of the month, and other teams have been connected to him recently.Those who are apparently interested include Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Leeds.

    It is possible, though, that Johnson stays put and puts an immediate stop to transfer rumours. The 24-year-old has reportedly received an upgraded five-year contract offer from West Ham, according The Athletic.

    Johnson has previously rebuffed West Ham in their efforts to keep him, therefore it remains possible that he does so again. If he does, he will be available to snap up as a free agent.

    Johnson, a right-back by trade, joined his boyhood club in 2019 and has since made 109 senior appearances. Despite never having played for the Three Lions at the senior level, he was an England under-21 international.

    There are many teams that have been connected to Johnson; The Athletic has reported that Rangers and Crystal Palace are among them. Ipswich Town, Southampton, and Tottenham Hotspur have all been mentioned as having expressed interest.The defender was linked to Sheffield United in January, but a transfer to South Yorkshire never happened.

    Following their second-place finish against Leeds United, reports now suggest that Ipswich Town will try to sign one of the Whites’ top transfer targets this summer.

    All season long, Leeds and Ipswich, along with Southampton and Leicester City, were battling it out for a spot in the top two.

    Leeds ultimately emerged from those four teams as the only one not to be promoted to the Premier League, and they now have to deal with the fact that they will play in the Championship for a second consecutive year.

    Leeds management has already stated that several important players will need to be sold this summer, despite the fact that the team’s financial situation is not quite as dire as some would have us believe.

    Having said that, Leeds won’t be dumping tonnes of cash on it throughout this window. They spent almost thirty million pounds last summer, and it would be shocking if they spent more than that this time.
