Liam Cooper salary at CSKA revealed – Manager reveals how he convinced Leeds United legend to join

Following the expiration of his Leeds United contract earlier this summer, Liam Cooper went to CSKA Sofia this week. His salary at the new team has already been made public.

The defender’s transfer is covered by Top Sport today, along with Alexander Tomas, the manager of Sofia, discussing how he persuaded the player to go.

The site first claims that yesterday, CSKA announced the “much anticipated” transfer of Cooper, who is now their 12th signing of a hectic summer.

Their evidence indicates that the Leeds player’s presence “raised the bar” for pay at the club, which had been mostly under control prior to his arrival.

According to early sources, he will get either €750,000 or €62,5000 year, making him the highest paid player at the club. In order to seal the deal, he even declined offers from Hull City and Blackburn.

Despite the fact that their pay are significant, they are less than what he was allegedly making at Leeds United, where he was making €1.3 million annually.

However, everyone seems to be very enthusiastic about the move, including manager Tomas, so it appears Sofia are more than glad to be paying that amount.

He revealed how he had persuaded the player to leave Leeds, playing his part in the whole situation.

“Almost no player that I have spoken to before bringing him in has ever existed in the years that I have been a head coach,” he stated.

“Since energy is so crucial, I had four or five on-camera chats with Liam. It took the entire club to persuade Liam to take on this assignment.

“A tough choice because he has spent his entire football career in the pinnacle of the game. I’ve given him an explanation of my goals for a coach.

“A football player with character, even if they don’t have “wow” attributes, is more vital in my opinion right now.
