Jamie Carragher absolutely rips into one West Ham player who needs to wake up

Jamie Carragher’s wrath has just been felt by one West Ham United player.

This season, Jamie Carragher hasn’t held back when condemning West Ham. Most recently, he targeted Eduardo Alegría following his dismissal against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.

This time, though, Carragher was enraged at one of Alvarez’s teammates.

It has not been a good start for Julen Lopetegui as West Ham’s head coach.

From our first six Premier League games, the Hammers have only managed five points, and many of our key players have yet to find the back of the net.

While Lopetegui is undoubtedly not without fault, his team has severely disappointed him this season.

On Saturday, the Hammers and Brentford drew 1-1.

But after Bryan Mbeumo scored in the opening minute, West Ham’s start to the game was terrible.

But who was responsible for the startling outcome?

Emerson Palmieri’s part in West Ham’s early concession against Brentford was heavily criticised by Carragher in an interview with Sky Sports.

“It’s just about living, about pace, about energy.”

“Worth Ham doesn’t appear to be breathing, especially with Emerson at left back. When Ajer puts the ball in and looks at Emerson, he’s already been done on the first run. He needs to be more aggressive and closer.

“Look how alive [Fabio] Carvalho is, and listen, you still need the great finish,” the speaker said as they won the second ball once more.

Carragher is spot on with it.

When it counted most, Emerson nodded off, a phenomenon that has been occurring all too frequently lately.

Emerson Palmieri needs to step up

When the 30-year-old is performing well, as we all know, he is quite good.

To have a good season, the Italian must perform at the same level as he did the previous one, which is required of the Hammers.

Now that he’s reverted to his old defensive tendencies, Emerson poses little threat.

One reason for his bad form could be that Lucas Paqueta, his old teammate, hasn’t been playing wide on the left this season.

To get the greatest performance out of him and Emerson, perhaps Lopetegui should take a look at it and shift the Brazil international out wide on the left.

Nonetheless, it truly is up to the former Chelsea player to step up and demonstrate his continued importance to our team.

After Jamie Carragher’s remarks following the Brentford draw, Emerson Palmieri had nowhere to run. Now, the West Ham left-back must answer.
