Ante Palaversa explains his emotional Aberdeen celebration and why Hearts winner was TWO YEARS in the making
Palaversa was the Dons’ hero as they managed to maintain their undefeated Premiership record.
Given that it had taken nearly two years to produce, Ante Palaversa acknowledged that he became emotional following his dramatic late Aberdeen winner.
With two minutes remaining, the gifted Croat came off the bench to score, breaking Hearts and extending Jimmy Thelin’s winning streak to 13 games. Palaversa’s choice to go to Pittodrie in the most recent window was mostly influenced by his struggles with injuries and insufficient playing time at Troyes, a French team.
The playmaker, who has already made an impression, scored his first goal this past weekend for Troyes in a close 4-3 loss to Paris St-Germain in October 2022. His strike proved to be the final goal of that game but was nothing more than a consolation as the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe had already put the French giants in the driving seat.
“To be honest, it was emotional when I scored the last goal,” Palaversa admitted. For the past two years, I have put a lot of effort into being where I am now. The boys have been incredibly welcoming, and their supports are fantastic. Being here makes me so pleased and proud. I hope and want that we go on.
Throughout his brief stay at Pittodrie, the 24-year-old feels extremely at home. Their high level of confidence and their 13-game winning streak have greatly aided. A big part of his victory this past weekend, in Palaversa’s opinion, was Aberdeen’s genuine sense of teamwork.
“I’m feeling really, really good and happy,” Palaversa said. foremost because to our triumph and the collective spirit of the team. I wouldn’t have scored the goal if there wasn’t any team spirit.
Thelin and his team, who are not on international duty, will have time to regroup and get ready for their matchup with Celtic at the top of the league. Palaversa insists that is now his only priority.
“I will be preparing for the next game and never losing focus,” the midfielder said in an interview with RedTV. First place in the table is what we are addressing. You must maintain mental focus in order to proceed.
“I am a player from Hajduk Split, a winning team in Croatia. In addition, I have firsthand knowledge from my younger years. I also know how important it is to maintain your composure while you are losing.
