‘Evidence is there’ – Pundit delivers verdict on Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle tenure so far

‘Evidence is there’ – Pundit delivers verdict on Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle tenure so far

According to Sky Sports analyst Andy Hinchcliffe, Plymouth Argyle is improving under Wayne Rooney.

During the summer, Plymouth Argyle resorted to the former Birmingham City and Derby County manager.

They now have 11 points and are positioned in 14th place on the Championship table.

“You have to remember how Wayne wants to play the game,” Hinchcliffe reportedly stated, according to Sky Sports. He is a proponent of that football philosophy, which has a track record of winning championships.

Not that Plymouth will go up, but most teams can currently “football” their way out of the Championship. They command games and have control over the ball. It makes sense for Rooney to want to play the way he does. There was concern that this would continue at every club he visited because the players at Birmingham were unable to perform.

“They performed poorly throughout the entire game on opening day, losing 4-0. You were afraid that things might turn bad very quickly. The players, though, have accepted it. Morgan Whittaker was retained, and he will continue to produce more.

“It is still inconsistent and a work in progress; the odd goal decides most of their games.” Though there is still work to be done, progress is being made. There is proof.

When they chose Rooney to be their new manager, Plymouth Argyle took a chance on him.

After his unsuccessful tenure at Birmingham City, he could feel he has something to prove in the game.

At Home Park, the 38-year-old’s team is looking good and he hasn’t done a bad job thus far. They must, nevertheless, get better on the road.

The former striker enjoyed success as a player, playing for teams like Everton, Manchester United, and England before hanging up his boots in 2021.

Before coming to America to join DC United in Major League Soccer, Rooney managed Pride Park for two years after accepting his first managerial position at Derby County.

He was given a way back into the Football League by Birmingham City last year, but things didn’t work out for him there.
