Manager update delivered ahead of Portsmouth’s visit to Cardiff City as Sheff Wed handed injury boost

Manager update delivered ahead of Portsmouth’s visit to Cardiff City as Sheff Wed handed injury boost

The most recent information from across the Championship as Portsmouth gets ready to take on Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff City.

Omer Riza, the interim manager of Cardiff City, has made it clear that he is not considering taking on a permanent position as head coach of the Bluebirds as they prepare for their midweek match against Portsmouth.

Cardiff fired former manager Erol Bulut less than a month ago, and Riza has steadied the ship with seven points from the last three games. The former attacker for Cambridge United and Trabzonspor led his team to a dominant 5-0 victory at home against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday. Anwar El-Ghazi, Chris Willock, Rubin Colwill, Callum Robinson, and Alex Robertson all scored goals as they easily defeated Wayne Rooney’s team.

Despite the speculation, the interim manager has stated he is just trying to do the best job he can. I’m trying not to think about it too much. I’ve always said if I treat people the right way, like my players and staff, I’ll get my reward whenever that may be. If it doesn’t come here, I’ll keep working hard that it will come somewhere else. We are always in conversation (with each other).” Despite the win, Cardiff remain in the Championship relegation zone

Owls boosted by key man ahead of Fratton Park visit

Josh Windass is expected to make a comeback for Sheffield Wednesday ahead of a pivotal week for the team in the bottom half of the Championship table, according to manager Danny Rohl, giving the team some encouraging news on the injury front.

The Owls will host Swansea City on Tuesday and then travel to Portsmouth on Friday night, following their 2-0 loss to Burnley on Saturday. Wednesday’s manager, Rohl, acknowledged that Windass’ return from a knock is especially well-timed as he aims to assist his team widen the three-point buffer between them and the relegation zone ahead of two challenging games.

    INJURY: Josh Windass

“He (Windass) will train tomorrow and he is available against Swansea,” he said to The Sheffield Star. That’s all the information I currently know. The most crucial thing is that we make the most of the two training sessions—given the short notice, not much training—and that we get them all ready. We know there is always a bench that can hold the quality and we can up the intensity, so we will then put the best 11 on the pitch. Knowing this is helpful to me because it is what we require and this week’s challenge with the Tuesday and Friday games
