Hearts star reveals why he was shocked by ‘brilliant’ St Johnstone

Although the Jam Tarts defeated the Saints 2-1, Beni Baningime was quite pleased with the Perth team’s performance.

Beni Baningime, a star for Hearts, has endorsed Simo Valakari’s Perth revolution as manager of St Johnstone.

At McDiarmid Park, the Tynecastle midfielder was the visitors’ man of the match when his strong run set up Kenneth Vargas for the game-winning goal, which was the pivotal moment in the Premiership match.

Baningime said that the Saints’ performance on Saturday astounded him, and he gave new head coach Valakari credit for quickly changing his team.

“What happened surprised me because I usually expect us to have possession, unless it was against the Old Firm,” he remarked.

The game was dominated by them.

“I told them they were brilliant out there.” To be honest.

“The manager has done a fantastic job for them, and they are a totally different team.

“Some excellent players are present. For me, that was the biggest shock.

Beni Baningime bursts through before setting up Hearts' winning goal.

Despite the fact that Saints have now lost back-to-back games, Valakari was positive following the game.

“We have a chance to win football games because of what the players are doing in practice and in games,” he stated.

“I am confident that we are headed in the correct direction when I observe what my players are doing.
