Wayne Rooney is doing Leeds United a big favour, England announcement proves it

£5million Leeds United ace handed significant international boost

This week, Darko Gyabi, a midfielder for Leeds United who is presently on loan at Plymouth Argyle, was called up to the England under-21 team.

Leeds will not be playing in the Championship this week due to the international break, so Daniel Farke is probably eager to get his team moving as the season approaches the winter.

Over the next week, a number of Whites players, including midfielder Darko Gyabi, who is now on loan, will be on duty.

Darko Gyabi promoted to England U21 squad

Gyabi’s form has continued to impress coaches in the England setup as he prepares for his first full season of regular senior action alongside Wayne Rooney at Plymouth Argyle.

The midfielder, who was a regular in the Elite League Squad (previously the U20s), made a comeback to St George’s Park for this month’s foreign assignment.

Argyle has verified that Gyabi has been promoted to the U21 team for this week due to a further upshelf:

Who should start up front for Leeds?

Gyabi returns to the Pilgrims for this season under new management after his injury-shortened half-season loan at Home Park last year.

Gyabi has been a consistent player under Rooney so far, missing just one game because he was unable to play against Leeds on the 2nd of this month when Rooney’s team failed to score at Elland Road.

However, the 20-year-old has performed admirably for the team that faces relegation:

    WhoScored rating 6.49

Gyabi is still only 20 years old, and the club has yet to benefit from the £5 million transfer that brought him from Manchester City to Leeds.

Playing so frequently under Rooney and still appearing to draw attention despite the Pilgrims’ low standing in the league, he might become a player worth having on the books if Leeds can give him the opportunity to continue growing away from Elland Road.

Leeds should at least be able to recover the majority, if not all, of the money they spent on the midfield player.
