Chelsea legend ‘agrees deal’ to take charge of Leeds United and Sheffield United’s Championship rivals

According to reports, Chelsea star Frank Lampard has reached an agreement to take over as manager of Coventry City, a rival team of Leeds United and Sheffield United.

Since firing Mark Robins, Coventry has been searching for a new manager, sending shockwaves around the pyramid.

Despite overseeing a remarkable transition from League Two to the Championship, he had to pay the price for the team’s slow start to the season.

One of the names that was instantly floated as a possible successor was Lampard, who seems to be gaining ground on the position.

Frank Lampard has been out of work since his Chelsea exit in 2023.

Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider reports that the 46-year-old has reached an agreement to take over as manager of the Championship team, which is currently in 17th position.

Lampard, who hasn’t been in charge since his tenure as Chelsea’s interim manager ended last year, would be making his managerial comeback with an appointment.

In 2018, he took over as manager of Derby County, and during his first term, he guided the Rams to the Championship play-off final.

    throughout his initial tenure.

In the summer of 2019, Chelsea made an approach, although neither his time at Stamford Bridge nor his subsequent stay at Everton were entirely successful.

In the last moments of the 2022–2023 season, he rejoined Chelsea for a stint as interim manager, however he oversaw a decline in performance.
