Nottingham Forest join West Ham, Southampton in race for 31-goal attacker?

According to reports, Nottingham Forest is vying with Southampton and West Ham United for the services of Brazil international Yuri Alberto, who is getting ready to depart South America in January.

Nottingham Forest have reportedly joined West Ham United and Southampton in the race for Corinthians star Yuri Alberto.

The 23-year-old has had a tremendous season with the Brazilian powerhouses, making 29 appearances and contributing 15 goals and five assists in the top division.

Both Southampton and West Ham are rumoured to have had long-term interest in Alberto; during the most recent January transfer window, Southampton made a £15 million approach for the midfielder.

When taking into account all tournaments, the attacker’s stats are even more remarkable. In 57 games, the former Santos youth scored 31 goals.

Alberto, who earned his first call-up and cap in 2023 while playing for Brazil’s senior team, also has some international experience as a move to Europe approaches.

Nottingham Forest to rival West Ham, Southampton in Alberto pursuit?

The very intense hunt for Corinthians sensation Alberto has reportedly seen the entry of another Premier League suitor, according to Brazilian publication UOL.

According to the source, the 23-year-old is reportedly eager for a move away from South America, and Nottingham Forest is looking into signing him.

In addition to the Tricky Trees, it is said that Southampton and West Ham are still interested in signing Alberto during the January transfer window.

Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo in October 2024.

Corinthians will not entertain any bids under €20 million (£16.5 million), despite rumours that they are eager to split ways with the Brazilian throughout the course of the new year.

This season, it is evident that Forest is aiming for the South American market, as the East Midlands team is apparently interested in Botafogo centre-back Igor Jesus.

    Who needs Alberto the most?

Alberto may be a huge asset to any Premier League team outside of the title contenders in 2024 after posting an incredible 38 goal total across games.

Although the 23-year-old Brazilian has the potential to become a top-flight star, it is uncertain if he would be able to start right away.

That is definitely Alberto’s brief at Southampton, who are currently losing the battle to stay in the Premier League after being promoted in May.

Seven points behind Crystal Palace in the relative safety of 17th place, Russell Martin’s team is firmly planted to the bottom of the Premier League rankings following only one victory from their first 15 games.
