Coventry City: Frank Lampard hands Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City transfer blow

Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City have suffered a setback as Frank Lampard has put an end to rumors over Brandon Thomas-Asante’s future at Coventry City.

Sky Sports reports that Rovers have made a £1.75 million approach for the forward, while Pete O’Rourke says the Potters are also considering a bid.

Thomas-Asante only joined the Sky Blues on a four-year contract last summer after leaving West Brom.

Despite only making eight starts in his 25 games this season, the forward has one goal and one assist to his credit for the Championship team.

Thomas-Asante is staying in Coventry, according to Lampard, and he won’t be leaving this January.

He has implied that supposition is merely that—speculation—and does not accurately represent the future.

From my perspective, no. “He is still our player,” Lampard stated on Coventry Live.

    Speculation will always exist.

“Half of the players we are associated to are bullshit.

What actually occurs and what is rumored are two different things.

“Aside from our current squad, which is lacking three very crucial players, it doesn’t mean anything to me right now.

“We need every last bit of energy from the team we currently have. We will make an effort to make it better if we can.

In addition, Lampard gave the 26-year-old high marks for his training performances and said he has improved in the last several weeks.

“I’m in favor of Thomas-Asante. I appreciate him as a guy; he has a positive mentality when he practices,” he continued.

He wants to work out and stay active, and I believe that he has improved in the past few weeks since rejoining the team, which may have helped him.

Although he needs to put in more effort now, he is just as good as the team’s other strikers.

“We put a lot of effort into finishing; we have a high xG, but we also create opportunities.

However, our forwards haven’t scored enough goals for us in the ten games.

Since that is the harsh reality of it, I can be honest about it.

There comes a point at which you must provide the final product, which is what we want, after competing with others to earn a spot on the team.

“We really need to work on that for all of the strikers here, and getting more clinical when your opportunities arise.”

With 26 games played, Coventry is now 16th in the Championship standings, just six points above the relegation zone.

Brandon Thomas-Asante sale now would be surprising

Thomas-Asante joined Coventry from West Brom in the summer, but he hasn’t had the impact that many had hoped for.

However, considering he has just been with the club for roughly six months, it would be premature to reject him and sell him on again.

Lampard has had a difficult time getting into the game, starting only once under the new management, but he should still be patient.

If they cashed in, it would be unexpected because a fee of about £1.75 million wouldn’t be a large amount to receive for him, unless that offer increased to more than £3 million.
