Derek McInnes clears the air over Kilmarnock star amid Hearts transfer pursuit + what he expects from Jambos

Derek McInnes clears the air over Kilmarnock star amid Hearts transfer pursuit + what he expects from Jambos

Hearts have had talks regarding a contract for one of the Kilmarnock manager’s best players.

Derek McInnes has cleared the air about the future of a Kilmarnock player despite interest in his services from Hearts and others.

To date, the Jambos’ January transfer window has been quite active. In addition to Liam Boyce and Kye Rowles moving on during the month, Sander Kartum is their fourth window arrival, following Elton Kabangu, Jamie McCart, and Michael Steinwender.

Early this month, the Edinburgh Evening News revealed that Hearts officials had signed Kilmarnock winger Danny Armstrong. The 27-year-old, who will be a free agent this summer, discussed a pre-contract deal with the Tynecastle team for the upcoming campaign. Despite the fact that Hearts made the first move, Armstrong has not yet made a decision regarding his future.

Before leading his Killie team to Tynecastle in the Premiership this weekend, McInnes has finally addressed the rumors and stated that no January transfer is anticipated. Since I’ve been here, I’ve enjoyed working with Danny,” he remarked. I was hoping that would continue.

To the best of my knowledge, he hasn’t signed with any other parties. We strive for that while the opportunity remains. In January, I don’t see anything occurring. We expect that he will be a crucial component in our final stretch this season, as he has been in the last two seasons.

The focus always seems to be on Danny, which is completely unfair. “When a team like Kilmarnock finishes fourth in the league, there’s always reasons why that happened. Danny was a big part of that, so it’s just par for the course.” “Managers need to accept that when players are out of contract and we have a load of boys in that situation, they have advisors and aspirations to maybe look at other things. I’m entirely comfortable with that, and we should all be.”

“It’s funny how it’s that way at so many grounds,” McInnes continued, referring to the fact that Kilmarnock has only lost once in their previous 11 trips to Gorgie. Others, however, are completely the reverse.

You hear it all the time: everyone says that the place is a terrific place to play. The players find it entertaining. We go there with the knowledge that Hearts should be performing better than they are. The manager has attempted to put his wishes into practice, and they have recently found some form. But from our perspective, nothing changes. We arrive there with a lot of drive and strong hopes of winning the match.
