Barry Robson changes Hearts loanee’s position and it reaps major rewards as star shines in Raith Rovers win

Barry Robson changes Hearts loanee’s position and it reaps major rewards as star shines in Raith Rovers win

Following a change in position, the Hearts loanee is flourishing away from Tynecastle.

To great effect, Barry Robson switched up the position his Hearts loanee plays for Raith Rovers.

Finlay Pollock, who has already made 17 appearances, is currently on loan at the Championship team. He scored twice in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Partick Thistle, giving him three goals in as many games since the attacking midfielder was switched to an out-and-out striker position.

He turned in a Dylan Easton cross close to the half-hour mark after smashing a loose ball in the box past the goalie for his first. Because Lewis Vaughan, Jack Hamilton, and Callum Smith are injured, Pollock is currently filling in up front.

Robson, the manager of Rovers, feels that the player is starting to learn the things that are being taught to him privately. The former Aberdeen manager stated: “As a striker, I always think that once you start working with one, they have to run.”

“They need to run in the proper places and put pressure on the defense. Frequently, the strikers are unable to do it or are unsure of how to accomplish it.

Things start to happen for them immediately after you give them that guidance and demonstrate for them on the field how to press, run, and run at the speed we want them to run.

“Opposition center-backs are being tied as gaps begin to appear. He’s moving toward favorable locations. Therefore, we’re quite happy for Finlay. He, like everyone else, has a lot of work ahead of him. Although they are all eager learners who aspire to succeed, they all have a lot to learn.

The first half was excellent, in my opinion. The speed we played at, the counter-pressure, the manner we transitioned, and the quickness at which we passed the ball through them all impressed me. It was far more difficult to handle. You could see our true selves and our desire for aggression.

We were really, really pleasing in the first half, in my opinion. We had good game control in the second half, in my opinion. Today, too, the pitch was a little challenging. We truly couldn’t pass it, in my opinion. Perhaps that was a little too much ice from last night. It was kind of hard.

But we had everything under control in the second half. We maintained a clean sheet and minimized it. Therefore, we essentially had control of the second half as well.
