Hearts urged to go where they haven’t been this season – but one player ‘still not right’
A victory over St. Mirren would propel the Jambos into the top six.
After Hearts defeated St Mirren on Wednesday, Neil Critchley pushed his team to keep improving and move into the top six of the William Hill Premiership for the first time this season.
The Jambos had a terrible start under previous manager Steven Naismith and were two points down at the bottom of the table when the Englishman took over in mid-October.
Hearts, on the other hand, have been progressively overtaking the teams above them, and if they defeat the sixth-place Buddies at Tynecastle, they will have the opportunity to pass them having lost just once in ten games across all competitions since Boxing Day.
“We simply need to think about the next game and ask ourselves, ‘What’s next?'” Critchley, the manager of Hearts, stated Tuesday. “To get into the top six is an incentive, so we don’t want to pass up that chance. Keep going forward, keep pushing the standards daily, and try to get better.
It would, in my opinion, give everyone more self-assurance and faith. At home, this is our next chance to maintain our strong performance, and we don’t want to pass it up.
According to Critchley, Cammy Devlin, a vital midfield player, will continue to be out due to headaches he sustained in the Scottish Cup victory over St Mirren just over two weeks ago.

Critchley is thrilled with how Beni Baningime, in the absence of his usual sidekick Devlin, has assumed “extra responsibility” in the holding role within a diamond midfield.

With Cammy absent, he has assumed the additional duty of acting as a midfield enforcer. I would argue that he has done a great deal of work that has gone unrecognized, but it is wonderful that you (the media) have taken notice. It is an acknowledgement of the performances he has been giving.
