Hearts target Sander Kartum as they eye ex-divisional player of the year

Hearts has made efforts to improve their attack and defense before focusing on a midfield target.

The Jambos have so far in the January transfer window acquired defender Jamie McCart from Rotherham, attacker Elton Kabangu on loan from Union Saint-Gilloise, and are in the process of acquiring another center-back, Michael Steinwender.

In addition, they are in negotiations with Islam Chesnokov of Kakakhstan and Danny Armstrong of Kilmarnock for a new winger. However, Armstrong may only be available for the summer due to a pre-contract deal.

Additionally, the team has been begging for more inventiveness in the middle of the pitch, something manager Neil Critchley would like to see.

Additionally, they are now considering a central midfielder, according to rumors this past weekend.

    Hearts eye Kartum transfer swoop

Reports in his own country suggest that Sander Kartum, a midfielder from Norway, will likely be the Hearts’ next January addition.

Plays from Brann and BT-Sporten indicate that the 29-year-old offensive midfielder is “on his way” to Tynecastle.

The two teams seem to have already reached an agreement on a deal, which may see the former Kristiansund player and Steinwender join this week before a match against Kilmarnock.

Hearts must pay a fee, but it won’t be too significant because Kartum is only contracted until the summer of 2026 and will soon turn 30.

    Who is Hearts target Kartum?

Sander Kartum is a 29-year-old Norwegian midfielder who plays for Brann at the moment.

His previous clubs were Stjørdals-Blink and Kristiansund.

According to Bladet, he was the player of the season in the Norwegian second division in 2020 while playing for the former.

Brann was drawn to his continued success in the Eliteserien, where he scored six goals and provided eight assists over two seasons. In 2023, he made the move.

Kartum played a key role in the team that finished second, trailing Bodo/Glimt by just three points.

He also played when the Norwegians eliminated St. Mirren from Conference League qualifiers earlier in the season.
