Negotiations ongoing as club hopes to seal permanent transfer of Leeds United star

In order to balance their pursuit of Premier League promotion with important personnel selections, Leeds United is preparing for a hectic summer transfer season.

The right-back Rasmus Kristensen, who is presently on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, is one of the main unknowns. The Bundesliga team is eager to sign the Danish international on a long-term contract after being pleased by him.

In his 27 appearances across all competitions, Kristensen—who is presently on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt—has made an impression in the Bundesliga, recording two goals and three assists. His efforts have persuaded the German team to look into a long-term contract, but money talks are still a barrier.

Frankfurt has a €15 million buyout clause in his loan arrangement, but according to Bild, they are trying to work out a far cheaper price of about €6 million. Discussions are still going on between the two clubs, and Kristensen’s wish to remain in Germany might have an impact on the outcome.

After Red Bull Salzburg was relegated, Kristensen was sent on loan to AS Roma for the 2023–24 season before joining Frankfurt last summer. Leeds had originally signed Kristensen from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022 on a five-year contract. His market value is presently projected at €10 million, making a transfer financially feasible for the Bundesliga team even if he is committed to Leeds until 2027.

Now that promotion hopes are on the line, Leeds must choose between accepting a lower offer to let go of the Danish international and pressuring Frankfurt for a greater transfer fee.

Having played for FC Midtjylland, Ajax, and Salzburg, Kristensen has experience in a number of elite levels and appears to be comfortable in Germany. Leeds might finalize a permanent move in the upcoming months if they decide to cash in, which could free up money for their own summer reinforcements.
