Rassie delivers choice words to Springboks’ biggest critic

Recently, Matt Williams, a former coach who is now a part-time rugby commentator, has gained notoriety for his unrelenting criticism of the Springboks, which frequently involves throwing “shade” at Rassie Erasmus.

Williams has consistently criticized the Springboks, whether it is by disparaging the idea of the “bomb squad,” Erasmus’ candid demeanor, or some of the contemporary deception used by the world champions.

When Williams applauded that “the 7-1 bench has quietly died,” which he had previously maintained went against the spirit and safety of the game, his most recent remarks regarding the Springboks recently attracted the attention of social media users.

During this week’s news conference, Erasmus genuinely laughed off a question concerning this remark.

Erasmus stated, “He doesn’t really know our team,” as reported by Rugby365. “With all due respect, I don’t think any of our players or management care about him.”

I mean, he’s an old guy who’s been around for a while. It’s all clickbait, but I’m sure a lot of people appreciate him.

“We don’t discuss other teams’ lineups, tactics, or team chemistry. He is an Australian, yet I am aware that he is in Ireland.

Does he, therefore, reflect the thinking of Ireland or Australia? We laugh at it, even though we hear it.

Springbok coach has dished out another sweet burn

Williams’ recent outburst was prompted by his criticism of the Springboks and Erasmus for their gamesmanship and manner of play during the 2021 British & Irish Lions tour, which was just a few weeks ago.

Williams had only secured three victories in 17 games as Scotland’s coach, two of which were against then-Tier Two countries Japan and Samoa, according to a screenshot that the Springbok coach pointedly posted from Wikipedia.
