Leeds United man celebrates engagement as midfielder doubles down on summer commitment

Leeds United man celebrates engagement as midfielder doubles down on summer commitment

Ahead of the Whites’ opening Championship campaign this weekend, Leeds United player Brenden Aaronson has celebrated his engagement to his longterm boyfriend.

Before sharing a number of photos of the occasion on social media with his fiancée Milana Dambra, the American international popped the question in Harrogate.

Aaronson joined Daniel Farke and United’s cause for the 2024–2025 season when he returned to Leeds this summer after spending the previous season on loan at 1.FC Union Berlin in Germany.

Aaronson is likely to play a significant role for Leeds as they attempt to return to the Premier League, either as a regular starter for Farke or off the bench.

We have been in love every day since we were sixteen, and we are now getting married. I’m excited to spend eternity with you!” Aaronson confirmed the engagement with a post on the social networking site Instagram.

Many of Aaronson’s former and current Leeds colleagues, among the several hundred readers on the post in question, praised the couple. Among the Leeds figures who congratulated the 23-year-old were Crysencio Summerville, Archie Grey, Darko Gyabi, Mateo Joseph, Willy Gnonto, Sean McGurk, Adam Forshaw, Patrick Bamford, and Junior Firpo.

In an interview with the YEP last month, Aaronson gave an explanation for his decision to return to Leeds after leaving on loan 13 months prior.

“After the [2022/23] season, and everything like that, I of course made my decision to go on loan,” stated the forward. “I believe the choice was made by me at that particular moment because I was unaware of Daniel Farke’s appointment as coach or the identity of the sporting director; the club was simply in poor condition. And I believe that for me, the decision was taken based only on the fact that I had a strong chance to participate in the Champions League.

During the season, I believe I spoke with my agent and girlfriend about what I wanted to see in the next season and other similar topics for approximately six or seven months. In addition, I had already decided in my mind that, should Leeds fail to make the Premier League that season, I would return to the city to establish my worth.”

As he was introduced from the bench with fellow loan escapee Max Wober during the 2-1 friendly win over Valencia last Saturday, the offensive midfielder was jeered by some Whites fans at Elland Road.

“With Leeds’ fan base, it’s a fan base that’s huge, that has a big following that really looks after the players and definitely has feelings at times,” he stated to the YEP. “But since I’m an emotional guy, I suppose it’s always a little nerve-wracking. At the end of the day, I like to be liked, but I understand that not everyone will be happy and that kind of thing. However, I will add that I’m simply returning to support the squad and that I always give it my all on the pitch; I believe they’ll be able to see that.
