Liam Fox land ‘invaluable’ Hearts praise as Neil Critchley makes permanent backroom move

The new Hearts coaching staff now includes a permanent member.

Liam Fox has been added to the Hearts first team coaching staff as a permanent member.

The Lowland League “B” team of the club is coached by the acclaimed Scottish football coach and former manager of Dundee United. He took over as manager in an acting capacity prior to Neil Critchley’s appointment as head coach this week, leading the team to its first Conference League victory at Dinamo Minsk.

Ross County and Aberdeen Premiership matches were overseen by Fox as well. He will now be employed by the senior backroom staff permanently through the summer of 2027, sharing a contract with assistant Mike Garrity and Critchley.

The childhood Hearts fan has spoken about his pride about the appointment. “I’d like to thank Neil, Mike, and the club for the opportunity,” he began. Being a fan of the Hearts myself, I’ve really enjoyed working with them this week and am so appreciative to have been offered this kind of responsibility.

“The club has had a challenging start to the season, but when I was the interim manager, the players gave me their all, and I’m sure Neil and Mike will do the same when they start against St. Mirren on Saturday.”

“That Liam has agreed to join the first team coaching setup makes me very happy,” Critchley continued. His experience and familiarity with the football club in general, as well as the group of players, have been useful in the brief time I’ve been at the club.

“I’m excited to work with Liam going forward because he has a lot to give as a coach.
