Prior to the 2024–2025 season, the 49ers Enterprises have already inked an off-field agreement with Red Bull, and behind-the-scenes work is being done to finalise Daniel Farke’s roster.
After losing to Southampton in the playoff final last month, the Whites will play in the Championship once more. This might mean that players like Wilfried Gnonto and Crystal Summerville leave Elland Road.
But there will also probably be new players joining, with Bobby Decordova-Reid of Fulham being one attacker who has been connected to a transfer to Yorkshire, presumably to take the place of Summerville or Gnonto.
Alfie Gilchrist, a defender for Chelsea in the Premier League, is another player Leeds is interested in, and fresh information seems encouraging.

More information about a possible transfer for Gilchrist has been made available by journalist Ben Jacobs, who initially revealed Leeds’ interest in the player. Speaking on the Just Joe Football Show, which Leeds United News cited, Jacobs expressed confidence that Gilchrist would end up at a Championship team. The defender, meanwhile, expressed his openness to a transfer to Elland Road following a “formative approach” from Leeds.
“It seems like the player intends and the idea is for him to be loaned out to a Championship club. Given the role he plays, it is highly doubtful that Chelsea will believe differently. The only thing up for debate is when in the window, as occasionally teams like Chelsea wish to bring the player over for preseason.
“He will definitely finish up at a Championship team in the upcoming weeks, but given what I stated, it might happen more in late July or early August. The clubs that have taken a formative approach are Blackburn, Preston, and Leeds.
In essence, Gilchrist would be amenable to relocating to Leeds. Despite the intense rivalry between Leeds and Chelsea, which he regards with great respect, he would still go there. He would be more than happy to support Leeds in their battle to advance.
Gilchrist, who earns £5,500 per week at Stamford Bridge, played in 17 senior Chelsea games last year, one of which was in the FA Cup fifth round against Leeds. The 20-year-old, who can play full back or centre back, started the match as a left back against the Whites. Late this year, John Terry also praised Gilchrist, calling him a “really good player” with “an unbelievable attitude.”
