Leeds United stunned by Junior Firpo story as transfer request update shared
The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Junior Firpo’s rumored return to Real Betis this summer has Leeds United perplexed.
On July 17, Graham Smyth wrote that although Firpo, a 27-year-old left-back, may be coveted by Betis, the Whites have not submitted a transfer request and are not attempting to let him go despite his strong performance as a key player in Daniel Farke’s side the previous year.
According to an ABC de Sevilla story on July 16, Firpo was prepared to accept a pay decrease in order to join Betis, who are rumored to be interested in re-signing the former full-back.
But according to the YEP, there hasn’t been any activity or communication from Andalusia, despite Smyth’s speculation that an agency would be looking for a deal else where.
Will Junior Firpo leave Leeds United this summer?
It doesn’t seem likely right now.
With the departures of Luke Ayling, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Archie Gray, and Charlie Cresswell as well as the return of several loanees from their stints away from Elland Road, Farke’s defense has already witnessed significant turnover this summer.

Sam Byram and Firpo can both be
th play at left-back but if one was to leave, a replacement would be needed and there are few left-backs in the Championship with the pedigree and quality Firpo has.
The Dominican Republic international showed himself to be a formidable offensive weapon down the left side of the field last season, contributing eight assists in 29 Championship games. Though he is not without his shortcomings, will the Whites be able to locate a more accomplished player with Premier League and La Liga experience for less money? It’s improbable.
Firpo seems content at Leeds nevertheless, as the Whites appeared to be mocking rumors that the former Barcelona star was leaving with a post on their official X account on Wednesday.
In other Leeds United news, once his contract details are revealed, Newcastle wants to sign this Elland Road star.
