Jack MacKenzie set for surprise Scotland call as Aberdeen star ready to replace Celtic’s Greg Taylor

For the Nations League, the 24-year-old will play alongside Dons friend Nicky Devlin in Steve Clarke’s squad.

Nicky Devlin, an Aberdeen teammate, and Jack MacKenzie are expected to make the Scotland team.

With Greg Taylor of Celtic set to leave, the left-back is about to be called in. The 24-year-old will now team up with Steve Clarke’s squad for the Nations League clashes with Croatia and Portugal. Aberdeen have made a great start to the season. They have won all 13 games under new boss Jimmy Thelin and currently sit equal top of the Premiership with Brendan Rodgers’ Hoops.

Right-back Although Devlin was included in the original group, MacKenzie now appears to be joining him. It is a stunning rise for the pair who have never represented Scotland at any other level previously. Robby McCrorie of Kilmarnock is also expected to be called up, since Norwich City custodian Angus Gunn is probably going to withdraw. The keeper was in the last squad but was only coming back from injury when his squad was chosen.

Jack MacKenzie is set for Scotland call-up

In the victory over Dundee over the weekend, McCrorie played ninety minutes. Gunn’s injury means Craig Gordon is likely to get the nod to start against Croatia. The Hearts goalie didn’t make his way back into the team until after Euro 2024.

Jack MacKenzie is expected to join Nicky Devlin, his teammate from Aberdeen, in the Scotland roster.
