Luke McCowan tells Aberdeen how the Celtic dressing room feels about their visit to Parkhead

Luke McCowan tells Aberdeen how the Celtic dressing room feels about their visit to Parkhead

The hype surrounding Celtic’s upcoming fixture against Aberdeen is being built up in the media as the top-of-the-table clash looms. Both teams are unbeaten in the league and both teams are enjoying a run of good form. For Celtic, Brendan Rodgers‘ side is free-scoring whilst keeping it tight at the back And for Jimmy Thelin’s Aberdeen, keeping up with the Glasgow giants seems to have surprised everyone, especially after Aberdeen’s 3-2 win over Hearts at the weekend, Building up to the big game, Celtic midfielder, Luke McCowan has shared how the Hoops dressing room is viewing the big game and is targeting all three points for the current Scottish champions.

Aberdeen told Celtic are only focusing on themselves

Luke McCowan of Celtic poses during the UEFA Media Access Day on September 16, 2024 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Since joining Celtic for £1 million on transfer deadline day, McCowan has made quite an impression. The former captain of Dundee, who already has one goal to his name and was a standout in Celtic’s victory over Ross County, has sent a message to The Dons ahead of the big game next weekend: “I guess their start has been good. It’s probably different from their start last year. “But listen, we focus on ourselves. It’s a game we know that if we apply ourselves correctly and put our full focus on that game, which we will, then we should be coming out with three points.”

It’s an important game to look forward to and it will probably be brought a bit bigger because Aberdeen are sitting second. So there’s always more publicity about it but it should be a good game. We don’t see anything different in that and we know that it takes a lot of hard work and there’s no easy games in this league no matter who you are playing.”

Celtic’s last ten results vs Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership

Although Aberdeen has had nearly complete dominance in the Scottish Premiership, Celtic has fought the Parkhead club on numerous occasions over the years. How does their current record against the Pittodrie club compare?

    • 03.02.2024 Aberdeen 1 v 1 Celtic
    • 12.11.2023 Celtic 6 v 0 Aberdeen
    • 13.08.2023 Aberdeen 1 v 3 Celtic
    • 27.05.2023 Celtic 5 v 0 Aberdeen
    • 18.02.2023 Celtic 4 v 0 Aberdeen
    • 17.12.2022 Aberdeen 0 v 1 Celtic
    • 31.07.2022 Celtic 2 v 0 Aberdeen
    • 09.02.2022 Aberdeen 2 v 3 Celtic
    • 28.11.2021 Celtic 2 v 1 Aberdeen
    • 03.10.2021 Aberdeen 1 v 2 Celtic

Nine wins and one draw in their ten games played by Celtic. It is likely that the Hoops will win the three points in the Parkhead matchup with 27 goals scored and only six goals allowed.

The evidence will be in the pudding when Celtic and Rangers play at full time in Glasgow on 19 October, though, as Jimmy Thelin’s team appears to be a different animal from those that Celtic have played in the past.
