“Take a bow” – Callum Robinson reacts to stunning Ollie Tanner exploits for Cardiff City

After his stunning goal gave his team a point against their local rivals Bristol City on Sunday, Ollie Tanner was the talk of the town in Cardiff once more.

It was the midfielder’s first goal of the season, and he opened the score for the Bluebirds at Ashton Gate 10 minutes after the half with an unstoppable strike.

Even though the Welsh team avoided losing in back-to-back games for the first time this season, Luke McNally went on to equalise for the hosts 17 minutes from time. Despite this, the Welsh team remains rock bottom of the standings.

Callum Robinson was one of the players to congratulate Tanner after he shared on Instagram, as he deservedly received praise from his teammates for maintaining his composure during the biggest of moments.

After the draw, Tanner took to social media to express his frustration over his team’s inability to win all three points, even though he was eager to see the bright side of the match.

The 22-year-old added in a post on Instagram: “We didn’t get what we wanted, but there are a lot of things we can improve on. Getting on the scoresheet is always good.”

Many people, including some players who were present on the pitch in the West Country, were eager to congratulate the point-earner from Sunday’s event, as you may anticipate when tensions have been so high for ninety minutes.

While fellow Bluebirds Alex Robertson. Joel Bagan and Ryan Wintle were eager to give credit to the man who had magically gained them a point, and Robinson summed it up in four words.

“Oliver, take a bow,” the Republic of Ireland international wrote.

    Appearances 9
    Starts 4
    Minutes played 414
    Shots per game 1.2
    Passing accuracy 71%

That perfectly encapsulates how amazing Tanner’s strike was when his team most needed it, sending the away fans into raptures with a thunderbolt that gave them the lead.

Moments like those from Tanner are just what you need to unite a team and a fanbase in a season that hasn’t quite clicked for City, which is still without a full-time manager following the departure of Erol Bulut. They will be hoping to build on that after the international break.

Ollie Tanner continues to prove a man for the biggest occasions

Tanner’s strike over the weekend solidified his reputation as a player who can make huge game decisions, and Sunday isn’t the first time he’s had a game-changing effect in a local derby for Cardiff.

A little more than a year ago, the wide player broke the tie between Swansea City and the Welsh team by cutting inside. The Bluebirds went on to win 2-0 over their biggest rivals that day to earn all three points.

The midfielder was back at it a year later, and his love of pile-drivers is still impressing and thrilling the City supporters, who will be feeling the best they have all season going into the weekend off.
