The contract of Mustapha Bundu of Plymouth Argyle expires in the summer of 2025, therefore a decision regarding his future must be taken soon. Bundu has had his moments during his brief time with the Pilgrims thus far.

Bundu came to Devon from Anderlecht, the Belgian powerhouse, following stellar loan stints at Aarhus and Andorra in Denmark and Spain.

The international player from Sierra Leone started his career in England, initially settling in Hereford FC.

Bundu has been a solid squad option for the majority of his Plymouth career, contributing off the bench.

When Wayne Rooney’s contract expires this summer, he will have to decide whether to keep the 27-year-old in his plans.

Plymouth Argyle should offer Bundu an extension

Chris, the Plymouth Argyle fan commentator for FLW, has expressed his opinion on whether Bundu should be dealt to again or let go.

He stated: “He joined Argyle on the day of the transfer deadline during our inaugural season in the Championship following our victory in League One.”

Since then, he has established himself as a fan favourite, demonstrating his ability to score crucial goals and provide an assist in the closing seconds of a match.

For instance, he scored the lone goal in Argyle’s victory over Leicester City in the previous campaign, which significantly aided us in avoiding relegation by a little point.

But because he only agreed to a two-year contract when he signed, his contract is set to expire in 2025.

Although he hasn’t played as much recently, many supporters are considering extending his contract, and I absolutely believe that it should be done for at least one more year. He can still be a vital presence when needed, especially in a broader wing role.

Even though he usually plays as a striker, I think he would be far more effective as a winger or in midfield because of his inventiveness rather than his ability to attack passes.

The best course of action for everyone involved would be an extension. We’ll just have to wait and see if that happens or if Argyle needs to get rid of him right away.

Bundu will likely only reach squad option status

Though he has reportedly liked his time at Argole, Bundu has a difficult decision. Would leaving Home Park at this point in his career be more advantageous for him?

He has had an impact off the bench, but with little goals and assists. Rooney can utilise his strong work rate as a valuable asset in the closing minutes of a match.

Bundu, however, might desire more.

He’s demonstrated in the past that he can develop into a vital member of the team, as evidenced by his 16 goal contributions for Aarhus in the 2019–20 campaign. Additionally, he’s contributed well off the bench thus far at Plymouth.

Out of his eight appearances so far this season, he has made three starts, with Morgan Whittaker and Ibrahim Cissokho being preferred.

Bundu might have to go elsewhere for a starting point and, if things don’t improve, the fan favourite might have to move on.
