Plymouth Argyle will need to be cautious of Watford’s Mattie Pollock, who is enjoying a fantastic season, according to former EFL player Adrian Clarke.

Although they are now sixth in the Championship standings, the Hornets have had inconsistent play this season, dropping six of their 15 league games.

They will next play Plymouth Argyle, led by Wayne Rooney, at Home Park later tonight.

Clarke said that he has been pleased with Pollock, the central defence for the Hornets, thus far this season.

The former EFL player praised Pollock’s aerial prowess and suggested that the Pilgrims take on the Watford player, 23, in order to increase their chances of winning.

Clarke commented on What The EFL about the Watford defender, saying, “His boy Mattie is doing great.”

Maybe because he plays so frequently, he is powerful in the air, making 12 more interceptions and 29 more clearances than anybody else at Watford.

He frequently makes the initial contact with the ball, though.

It is imperative that Plymouth avoid him.

Against Rooney’s team tonight, Pollock, who has started all 15 league games under Tom Cleverley this season, will try to make a significant impact.
