‘Now told’: Journalist shares what Everton sources are saying about Tom Cannon amid Sunderland interest

What sources are saying about Everton re-signing Tom Cannon amid Sunderland and Sheffield United interest

The January transfer window is a critical time for Everton to add some forward reinforcement.

The Friedkin Group has made adjustments off the field during their first month on Merseyside.

Nevertheless, Everton is yet to sign a player under the current management.

With players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin attracting interest from overseas, David Moyes, who has now returned to Goodison Park, will be hoping to see changes made to his team.

With the same lineup that Sean Dyche left behind, the 60-year-old will play his first game back at Everton.

But before the deadline closes, efforts are on to maybe expand the squad.

Everton have not contacted Leicester City over Tom Cannon

Given the need for attacking additions, Everton is considering a deal for Ernest Nuamah of Lyon in order to bring in a new winger.

In order to bolster their striker department, Everton reportedly sought to sign Tom Cannon from Leicester City.

Harry Watkinson, a journalist, has since implied that this is not the case.

“Sources have informed me that Everton and Leicester have not discussed re-signing Tom Cannon. He stated on X, “Reports are inaccurate.”

“The former #EFC striker’s most likely destination is championship.”

It appears that Cannon will soon make a permanent move after Leicester City called him back from his loan agreement with Stoke City just hours earlier.

With little choices because of injury, Everton wants to give Beto another chance to shine under Moyes.

Everton may regret selling Cannon in 2023

Sheffield United and Sunderland, two Championship teams, are reportedly interested in signing the young player.

Cannon was sold by Everton to Leicester in 2023 for £7 million, and he has since excelled in the Championship.

Given their own problems up front, Everton supporters may be questioning why they sold the striker after Cannon’s promising season.

In addition to drawing interest from overseas teams, Calvert-Lewin has come under fire for his subpar performances this season, which have yielded only two goals.

The Toffees’ biggest problem this season is scoring goals since Everton’s defense is so excellent; only Southampton has returned fewer goals.
