Ruud van Nistelrooy already has perfect Tom Cannon replacement ready if Leicester ace joins Sunderland

Ruud van Nistelrooy already has perfect Tom Cannon replacement ready if Leicester ace joins Sunderland

This month, Tom Cannon’s career at Leicester City is in jeopardy due to concerns over his connections to Sunderland.

After joining Leicester City from Everton in August 2023, Tom Cannon had a sluggish debut at the King Power Stadi.

For the Foxes in 2023–2024, the 22-year-old made 13 Championship games and netted two goals.

Therefore, Leicester’s decision to loan the striker away for the current season was not shocking.

After joining Stoke City for the season, Cannon has had a fantastic run with the Potters.

He has scored nine goals for a midtable Stoke team and contributed one assist in 22 league outings.

On January 15, the club did, however, acknowledge that Cannon had been recalled by Leicester.

There has been a wide range of responses to the center-forward’s return, depending on which side you support.

Leicester City have replacement for Tom Cannon ready to step up

According to reports, Sunderland is interested in signing the Leicester striker, but the deal would initially see him on loan before a £13 million payment is made if the Black Cats are promoted.

That kind of transfer doesn’t really work right now because the Foxes must sell in order to buy in January.

But if a deal for Cannon is done this month, Van Nistelrooy already has the right successor waiting in the wings.

The player in question is Jake Evans, who is presently playing well for the club’s academy at the young level.

Although Evans lacks senior experience at the moment, it makes sense that they would promote an academy player to replace their striker ranks in the second half of 2024–2025 since Jamie Vardy is anticipated to stay in Van Nistelrooy’s starting nine and the Foxes have little money to buy in January.
