‘I’m one of the Premier League’s current top scorers – you’ll hear me more when I retire’

‘I’m one of the Premier League’s current top scorers – you’ll hear me more when I retire’

A Premier League star is already making plans for a new career off the pitch.

Chris Wood, a standout for Nottingham Forest, scored eight goals in his first twelve Premier League appearances this season.

Chris Wood, the Premier League sensation, has acknowledged that after he hangs up his boots, he would like to work as a football commentator. Before his team’s match against Ipswich, the Nottingham Forest striker has already scored eight goals in 12 games this season, making him a revelation.

Only superstars Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have scored more goals in the top flight this season due to Wood’s antics in front of goal.

Additionally, his play helped Forest go up to third place in the standings at the beginning of November until they fell to seventh place ahead of this weekend’s games.

Wood, who earlier demanded a transfer fee of £25 million to go from Burnley to St. James’ Park, joined his current team from Newcastle at the beginning of the previous season.

After making his debut for the Baggies in 2009, the powerful attacker, who turns 33 on Saturday, has also played in the top division for Leicester and West Brom.

In 239 Premier League games, he has scored 77 goals. His most successful season to date was the 2019–20 campaign, in which he scored 14 goals in a Burnley match.

He informed the Daily Mail about his future aspirations, saying, “I feel like commentary would come a bit more naturally to me.” It definitely appeals to me a little more than coaching. Punditry and play-by-play commentary are two completely separate skills that need to be improved.

“I believe that you must have played the sport or been involved in it for a long period in order to have a solid understanding of what you’re talking about.

“Being able to accomplish it right away is not the issue. Learning and understanding from others in higher positions will take a lot of time, but it’s a nice option that might be feasible.

“On radio, you have to do a lot more to convey the message than on television, where you can come and go as needed.

After a commentator confronted a fan in the stands, Sky Sports decided to fire Roy Keane [INSIGHT].

“I’ll turn on a Premier League or Champions League game if I’m driving somewhere,” he continued. Hearing about what individuals are doing is pleasant.

“You need to be able to picture what’s taking place. A good commentator can make you feel as though you are seeing it, even though there are times when you won’t get a clear picture.

“After football, it’s definitely a step I could take, through international or New Zealand outlets.” Who knows?
