On Saturday afternoon, Wolverhampton Wanderers will play Bournemouth in an attempt to maintain their position atop the Premier League standings.

The West Midlands team is currently in 17th place in the Premier League standings, just outside the relegation zone after a recent comeback.

Gary O’Neil’s team has now amassed eight points out of a possible twelve after a period in which they only managed one point from eight games.

Wolves’ next game is against O’Neil’s old team, Bournemouth, at Molineux on Saturday in an attempt to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three.

Both sides will be certain to finish with a perfect record, but Wolves want to cling onto a top Premier League statistic for as long as possible.

Wolves scoring run going under the radar

Despite their spell at the bottom of the 2024–25 table, Wolves have scored 20 goals, seven fewer than Tottenham Hotspur’s division-high 27.

However, Wolves and Chelsea are the only two clubs in the Premier League with 11 straight goals, making them the joint-best in the league.

Wolves now have the poorest defensive record in the division, but they have only failed to score on the road against Arsenal on the first day of the season.

Additionally, in their last four Premier League games—against Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace, Southampton, and Fulham, respectively—Wolves have scored at least twice.

Could Semenyo absence be key?

This season, Bournemouth’s most impressive player has undoubtedly been Antoine Semenyo. However, the dynamic attacker will not play on Saturday because of a ban.

During the last eight games in which Semenyo has not played, Bournemouth has lost six of them and failed to win.

In terms of their away record, the Cherries have split their last 16 away games with three wins and nine losses, including one versus Wolves.

Although Wolves only have four points from six games this season, Bournemouth’s return of five points from away games is superior.
