Four striker targets for Nottingham Forest as key January transfer window looms

Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds prepare for January transfer window

As Nottingham Forest prepares for the January transfer window, the apparent area that needs reinforcement is up front.

The Reds’ summertime attempts to sign a striker were unsuccessful. So, his only forward alternatives are Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood, according to head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

Awoniyi is still working on hitting full sharpness, but Wood has been playing well in front of goal.Given this, Nuno’s options would undoubtedly be strengthened by the addition of another forward in the upcoming year.

As the new year draws near, Forest has already been connected to several assailants. We examine a few of the strikers rumoured to be on the club’s radar below.

Igor Jesus of Botafogo has been linked with Nottingham Forest

    Yuri Alberto

According to reports from Brazil earlier this week, the Reds were preparing a January bid of £19 million for the Corinthians player. The 23-year-old’s desire to join the Premier League has been publicly expressed.

Additionally included are Brentford, Newcastle United, Everton, and West Ham United. There have also been rumours that Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers would renew their interest from earlier in the season.

Divergent opinions have surfaced regarding Corinthians’ willingness to make a deal. Alberto is not for sale, according to club chief Augusto Melo, despite claims that the Brazilian team would be “open” to negotiations.

    Igor Jesus

Jesus, 23, is another name that is rumoured to have taken their attention. Forest has made good use of the South American market in recent windows. But the forward for Botafogo has plenty of fans.

The Reds reportedly increased their interest in him earlier this month by “making checks” on him, and Newcastle reportedly followed suit. The Brazilian has apparently been viewed by Arsenal, Chelsea, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, West Ham United, and Fulham.

Apparently, it would cost a lot of money to get him to go.A price tag of £30 million has been suggested.

    Mathys Tel

Numerous clubs are interested in the Bayern Munich teenager because of his versatility, which allows him to play as a centre forward, winger, or attacking midfielder. Due to his fierce competition for a spot in the starting lineup, which includes players like England captain Harry Kane, there have been rumours that a January loan move may be imminent.

The 19-year-old was reportedly the subject of “initial contact” from Forest regarding his capture. The latest German story, however, stated that he had declined the opportunity to join Nuno’s team because “only a bigger club” would entice him to go.

Other Premier League teams are reportedly keeping an eye on him. It has also been reported that Werder Bremen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC Augsburg, and VfB Stuttgart are interested in him.

    Luca Koleosho

Earlier in the season, Forest was connected to the Burnley forward and reportedly dispatched representatives to observe him play. The 20-year-old was also linked to possible suitors Newcastle, Aston Villa, Brighton, and Crystal Palace.

Koleosho, who can play forward or left flank, joined the Clarets from Espanyol in July 2023 for an estimated £2.6 million. Since then, he has been accumulating playing time in the Championship.
