Athletic Bilbao Clause Of Tottenham And Liverpool Target More Than Thought

As per reports in Spain, Nico Williams, a target for both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, has a larger release clause in his contract than was previously thought.

In December of last year, the 21-year-old winger signed a new deal with Athletic Bilbao, but there have been strong rumors that he may leave the team this summer.

This season, Williams has contributed 16 assists and seven goals, making him a desirable target for a number of Premier League clubs.

The winger is apparently being watched by Tottenham and Liverpool, and his contract included a €50 million release clause.

But the Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo claims that the release clause figure is more than expected.

According to some, the release clause number is closer to the summertime estimate of €60 million.

If clubs want to sign the winger in the next transfer window, they will have to pay a higher price than they had originally planned.

Given their reputation for being picky about buyout terms, Athletic Bilbao is unlikely to consider any offers involving a negotiated transfer for Williams.

It’s unclear if Liverpool, Tottenham, or any other Premier League team will make a summer transfer.
