According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur was interested in acquiring Alessandro Bastoni, a defender for Inter Milan.

Mick Brown, a former Tottenham scout, claims that the North London team had previously dispatched scouts to observe the 25-year-old Italian international. They lost out on him, though, and the player is now a vital member of the Italian champions.

Bastoni has established himself as one of the top defenders in European football and was instrumental in Inter Milan’s championship victory the previous season. If Tottenham had been able to close the transaction earlier, he may have been a vital member of the North London team and they could definitely use someone like him.

While Fabio Paratici was at the club, Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham was interested in signing the midfielder.

They had often dispatched scouts to observe him in order to keep a watch on him.

“That was made possible by their contacts in the Italian market with the former director of Juventus who was present.”

He was highly regarded there, so I assume he still is. I’m not sure how close they were to signing him, but I do know they wanted him.

Given that he is now a vital member of Inter, it appears that they may have lost out.

Spurs lack depth in their defensive line and could use a good center defender right now. Whether they can bring in high-caliber additions in the upcoming months will be interesting to see.

If they wish to contend for big trophies, they must improve the caliber and depth of their team. They will undoubtedly get better if they sign a top-tier center defender.

Bastoni may have formed a strong alliance with players like Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero. It will be intriguing to see who they end up with because they have been connected to several defenders in recent months.
