Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided a squad update ahead of Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup third-round tie against Barnsley.

The manager is considering his lineup after the weekend’s victory over Southampton, with another away game against Crystal Palace scheduled for this Saturday. The Reds are back in action at Old Trafford, hoping to advance in the competition we won in 2022–2023.

Following the 3-0 victory at St Mary’s Stadium, there were some small worries, but Ten Hag claims the players in question are fine, giving him a large roster to select from.

Regarding Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, and Lisandro Martinez, he stated, “They are all available.” They’re decent.

“Hopefully I’m suffering from headaches because I experienced the same thing last year, but there weren’t any players accessible.

It is my goal that a large number of players will be available so that we can choose our games. It’s not only about a starting lineup; we have to rotate since we have so many games to cover.”

In the match against the League One team, Manuel Ugarte made his debut off the bench and might make his first appearance at Old Trafford.

Part one: Press conference v Barnsley

Erik continued, “First, Luke Shaw is making progress, but he’s not ready to be selected just yet,” at his news conference at Carrington. Naturally, we have a schedule in mind for when he will be prepared, but the growth is always what matters most. There are too many reasons for a plan to accelerate or slow down, so you can’t think or offer a return date.

“[As for] Ugarte, you will see tomorrow what the selection will be for this game.”

Due to injuries, Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia, Shaw, Leny Yoro, Mason Mount, and Rasmus Hojlund were unable to participate in the victory over the weekend and are still sidelined.

    BARNSLEY’S TEAM NEWS

A lifelong United supporter, Tykes manager Darrell Clarke has disclosed that he would alter their starting lineup for the 20:00 BST kickoff.

Due to an eye injury, USA international defender Donovan Pines will be missed for the remainder of the season. Over the weekend, the team lost 3-0 to Stevenage, and Pines will not be allowed to play due to the concussion protocol.

Clarke verified, “It’s a concussion.” “He started to feel sick and we’re going to miss him for a period of time.”

Clarke is focused on making sure his team performs well on the grand platform.

“We’ll prepare and plan professionally as we always do,” he continued. Our next game is on Saturday, so let’s freshen the team up a little.

One or two boys might be able to take advantage of the situation and make a claim.

“It’ll be a proud moment for a council estate lad from Mansfield to lead a team out against the team he supported as a young lad but I want more proud moments in my career, I want to be managing at the highest levels possible and doing well for Barnsley.”

With the South Yorkshire team currently sitting in seventh place in League One after defeating Sheffield United in the previous round, it appears that Fabio Jalo will not be playing.
