QPR man makes ‘alarming’ admission ahead of Stoke City test Stoke

QPR man makes ‘alarming’ admission ahead of Stoke City test

Stoke City visit Queen’s Park Rangers on Saturday looking to continue their run of good results

Hoops player Jonathan Varane says the scenario against QPR’s Stoke City is “alarming.”

The goal of Narcis Pelach’s team’s Saturday (3pm) visit to Loftus Road Stadium is to extend their winning streak to three games and get closer to the playoff spots.

Their opponent will have quite different priorities; they are at the bottom of the table, having lost seven of their last 12 games and not having won since August.

But during the international break, the 23-year-old, who is playing his debut season in England, told the website So Foot that he totally supports the beleaguered QPR head coach Martí Cifuentes.

Regarding QPR’s situation, the former Sporting Gijon player stated, “It’s alarming, it’s true.” But to be honest, I’m really optimistic. We have a solid foundation. We have nine or ten injuries, particularly in the attacking area, and there was a lack of imagination and effectiveness in both [penalty] areas.

“We can defeat Sunderland, who are currently leading the Championship. It’s a shambles, the opening goal against Leeds (0–2). Fortunately, we’re not far away. The instructor is excellent! I am absolutely certain that nothing has been decided.

As they attempt to exact revenge for their 4-2 loss in the same location a year ago, Stoke will be hoping that their luck does not change this weekend.
