BBC Sportscene pundits single out Rangers man after what he did v Hearts

Cyriel Dessers ‘getting his rewards’ after finding form again for Rangers v Hearts

Lee Miller and Billy Dodds singled out Cyriel Dessers after the striker gave Rangers another goal against Hearts.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene on November 10, the pair praised Dessers after his first Premiership goal since August 24 gave Philippe Clement’s team a close victory of 1-0.

Dodds went on: “The one thing you would say about him is that he keeps coming back for more.”

“He went through a dry spell, but he has scored a few goals in the last few games. He keeps returning and receiving his rewards.”

Cyriel Dessers finally breaks Premiership drought for Rangers

Being the top number nine at Ibrox and having scored 10 goals from 20 in all competitions, Dessers will feel a great sense of relief after scoring his first league goal in more than two and a half months.

Despite his respectable output in the Scottish League Cup and continental tournaments, the Premiership has been the Gers’ main weakness thus far this season, giving Des a lot of opportunities.

The Nigerian international arguably hasn’t helped himself with comments about his rate of goals, but if he allows his football to do the talking – as he did on Sunday – fans will certainly warm to him more.

Proof, however, will be in the pudding, particularly when it comes to Clement’s side getting back on track in the title race, with Dessers’ goal bringing a 12-point gap at the top back to a still-sizeable nine.

Clement will need Dessers’ return to form to continue if the Gers are to hunt down Celtic and Aberdeen, and will be hoping that a first league goal since August sparks another lengthy spree for his number nine
