Former Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and Brentford midfielder makes return to EFL after three-year absence
After three years away from English football, Kadeem Harris, a former midfielder for Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday, is returning.
At the conclusion of the 2020–21 season, which saw the Owls relegated to League One, the 31-year-old left Hillsborough.
As the Russo-Ukrainian War intensified, he fled for Turkey in search of better opportunities in Ukraine with Metalist Kharkiv.
Harris returned to England in the summer after stints with four Turkish clubs, where he was a member of the Professional Footballers’ Association’s (PFA) free agency roster.
Then, over the weekend, he signed a short-term contract with Carlisle United and began training with the League Two team.

In addition, the midfield player made his club debut by coming on as a substitute in a 1-0 victory over Salford City. Since Sheffield Wednesday’s draw with Derby County in May 2021, it was his first EFL competitive appearance.
Mike Williamson, the manager of Carlisle, stated prior to the match: “He adds talent and experience to the team. providing us with the speed and explosive force we desire, which can do harm to teams. He’s a great addition to our team.”
Years before he joined Hillsborough, Harris first relocated to South Yorkshire, playing on loan at Barnsley and on the periphery of Cardiff City. Among his previous clubs are Brentford and Wycombe Wanderers.
