‘The attitude we want’ – Stoke City player picked out for individual praise by Narcis Pelach
Narcis Pelach, the manager of Stoke City, has commended Michael Rose for his upbeat demeanour lately.
This season, Stoke City’s defender has had to wait for his turn.
Rose, 29, was chosen to lead the Potters on their weekend journey to Sunderland. At the Stadium of Light, they suffered a 2-1 defeat.
“Michael has behaved very professionally during this time he hasn’t been playing,” Pelach stated, according to a report by StokeOnTrentLive. I started him right away, and he featured in the 6-1 victory against Portsmouth as well as against Norwich, where he excelled against Borja Sainz. I wanted to see another centre-back, therefore I left him off the team. Because Michael played well and I cut him from the squad, I felt like I owed him something in our relationship.
“He has acted really well lately, getting along well with both me and his colleagues, and I believe he embodies the mindset we want in our squad moving ahead. I gave him the armband for that reason. He stands for the club’s ideals.
Stoke City man praised
Rose has kept his head down and hasn’t made a big deal out of not making Stoke City’s starting lineup.
This season, he has had to compete for a spot on the team against players like Ashley Phillips, Ben Wilmot, and Ben Gibson.
The Scotsman is prepared to step up when needed and gives the Potters extra defensive depth and competitiveness.
He joined Stoke City in July 2023 to strengthen their defence, and since then, he has made 53 appearances in all competitions, 12 of which have been this season, contributing two goals.
Rose played four years with the Sky Blues, playing 116 games under their previous boss Mark Robins, after being enticed to England by Coventry City in 2019.
He had previously played above the border for Aberdeen and Ayr United before joining them.
At the end of this season, his contract with the Potters ends, and the Staffordshire team must decide how to handle his long-term status. In June 2025, they run the risk of losing him for nothing.

Tuesday night marks Stoke City’s return to action when they travel to Luton Town.
They will be keen to recover from their defeat at Sunderland.
