Hearts and Hibs referee appointments ahead of Aberdeen and Motherwell clashes

This weekend sees Hearts and Hibs return to Scottish Premiership play.

In search of their first league victory, Hearts travel to Aberdeen on the road. Liam Fox is still under interim management while they search for a new manager to fill Steven Naismith’s post.

After a difficult opening few months of the new season, the Jambos are currently at the bottom of the standings. Thus far, they have only scored one point.

As for Hibs, they will be hosting Motherwell at Easter Road in an attempt to recover from their previous away setback to Rangers, which ended in a 1-0 defeat. With five points earned, David Gray’s team is now sitting in ninth place in the division.

    Hearts

    Sunday 6th October 2024, Pittodrie Stadium, 3.00pm kick-off

    Referee: John Beaton

    Assistant Referee 1: Graeme Stewart

    Assistant Referee 2: Colin Drummond

    VAR: Don Robertson

    Assistant VAR: Andrew McWilliam

In all competitions this season, Beaton has overseen ten games thus far. The 42-year-old started in the middle for Hearts during their 3-1 loss on the road against Motherwell in August and Celtic’s match against Rangers in the first part of September.

Fox previously stated, “There were large amounts of the performance on Saturday that pleased us as a staff,” indicating that he is waiting for a response from his players. There were small moments in the game that we can build on, which is essential. Getting something out of a game is always preferable to getting nothing at all. Additionally, it’s critical to actually follow through on the following actions rather than just talking about them.

“We need to look at how we are in and out of possession,” he continued. “We can show the players what to do, we can show them videos and bits and pieces.” The key is how we approach the game.
