Brentford pick out the £3m Celtic hero that could be ideal replacement to in-demand 25-year-old star amid Newcastle interest

Brentford pick out the £3m Celtic hero that could be ideal replacement to in-demand 25-year-old star amid Newcastle interest

Brentford is thought to be a big fan of a Celtics player who is currently playing well.

After Nicolas Kuhn’s outstanding performance against Bundesliga title contenders RB Leipzig in the Champions League, Premier League team Brentford has identified the Celtic playmaker as one of their top January transfer targets.

In the Champions League, the Hoops overcame a one-goal deficit to defeat the German team 3-1. Kuhn led his team to win with two outstanding goals against the team where he was formerly playing as a child.

Brendan Rodgers’ team enjoyed a really memorable European night as Kuhn was outstanding on the right side of attack and dominated 17-time German international Benjamin Henrichs for the whole 90-minute match.

With nine goals and ten assists this season in all competitions, the 24-year-old is in the prime of his career after a brief time of rest. He is definitely worth far more than the rumoured £3 million Celtic paid Rapid Wien less than a year ago.

His recent performances, however, have shown that he is a top talent who could succeed in the Premier League south of the border. According to TBR Football, Brentford is one team that has shown a strong interest in the winger and may have to fight for the services of Bryan Mbuemo, who is currently playing well.

With an incredible eight goals in ten games, Mbuemo has become the club’s key man and is currently flourishing at the Gtech Community Stadium after Ivan Toney left.

The 25-year-old has grown in importance within Brentford’s plans, but according to NewcastleWorld, he has recently caught the attention of both Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

Despite their desire to keep Mbeumo, Brentford is apparently preparing backup plans in case the £50 million star departs west London during the January transfer window.

TBR goes on to say that if that happened, the Bees would try to test Celtic’s resolve by making a bid for the former German Under-20 player.

In addition to former Hoops star Kristoffer Ajer moving straight from Glasgow to join the Bees in July 2021, the Hoops have previously sold players like Matt O’Riley, Kieran Tierney, and Odsonne Edouard to Premier League teams.

According to earlier reports from Edinburgh Evening News, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg called a move for Kuhn to the Premier League “one to watch” and said the Hoops currently value the winger at about £25 million.

But if the winger keeps up his current performance in the Champions League, it would only strengthen the Scottish champions’ resolve to hold onto him, which might raise his value even further.
