    Ange Postecoglou shares how close Callum Olusesi is to the Tottenham first team after his debut

    Tottenham Hotspur is establishing itself as a team that provides young players with opportunities.Over the past few years, Tottenham has given many young players opportunity by bringing in academy players and signing youthful talent.

    Another academy star, Callum Olusesi, received a senior debut on Thursday night from Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou.

    When the team defeated Hoffenheim 3-2 in the Europa League, the 17-year-old midfielder in as a late substitute.

    Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match against Leicester City, Postecoglou praised Olusesi and discussed the current situation.

    Football.london quotes Postecoglou as saying Olusesi has been “great” for Tottenham, who have big expectations for him.

    But before Olusesi can be regarded as a reliable first-team player, the Spurs manager acknowledged that he still has a “long way to go.”

    “Yes, quite a few young boys have trained with the group,” Postecoglou said.

    They’ve been able to comprehend what it takes to even train at this level because of the circumstances we’re in, and Callum has been excellent.

    He is one of the young players we have the highest expectations for and is clearly highly good.

    It’s terrific for him and his family that he got a taste of it on Thursday night.

    “I hope it gives him motivation, but he still has a long way to go before he can be a member of the first team.”

    What Yaya Toure has said about Olusesi

    Earlier this decade, Tottenham’s academy employed Yaya Toure, one of the greatest midfielders of his generation, as a coach.

    Following their respective appearances against Hoffenheim on Friday, Tour commended Olusesi and Mikey Moore on Instagram.

    As young players I coached with at Spurs’ academy, I am thrilled to see Mikey Moore and Callum Olusesi advancing in their careers,” he added.

    They are both incredibly brilliant and wonderful young individuals. They’ll keep up their good work, I’m sure. Last night, it was wonderful to see them united on the field! Keep going, guys!
